Movie Step #1-  Research/Spreadsheet

 

Rubric Requirements:

I.  Excel Spreadsheet  10 Points                                                                                   

 

Researching

1) The first part of this is to research 7 movies and record them into Excel.

2) Go to Start>Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Excel.

3) Row 1 of your spreadsheet should be your column headings. Column Headings are titles and should be capitalized. In cell A1, type Movies. In cell B1, type in Overall Gross. In cell C1, type in Budget. In cell D1, type in type in Profit.  In cell E1, type in % of Increase.

4) In column A, type in your 7 movie titles. Make sure you properly capitalize the titles.

5) Fill in the data for your 7 movies in columns B-C. You do not have to type in dollar signs or commas.

6) Column D is going to be where we calculate the Total Profit.  Total Profit is Overall Gross-Budget. Excel can complete Mathematical Equations.

Do the following in cell D2 to enter a mathematical formula like shown on right:

7) Complete columns D by using mathematical formulas.

8) Shade column D yellow by using the Paint Bucket (shown on right) so your teacher's know that is your calculated column.  

9) Column E is going to be where we calculate the % of Increase  Total Profit is Overall Gross-Budget. Excel can complete Mathematical Equations.

Do the following in cell E2 to enter a mathematical formula like shown on right:

 

10) Complete columns E by using mathematical formulas.

11) Shade column E yellow by using the Paint Bucket (shown on right) so your teacher's know that is your calculated column.  

12) Highlight Column E> Right Click> Go to Format Cells. Under Category, choose Number and pick 1 decimal places. Hit OK.

13) On the tab at the bottom, rename the tab Spreadsheet . Right-click on the tab at bottom of page (Sheet 1) and go to rename. Type in Spreadsheet. (Shown on right)
