Rubric Requirements:
I. Excel Spreadsheet 10 Points
Researching
1) The first part of this is to research 7 movies and record them into Excel.
Use www.boxofficemojo.com to get the Overall Gross.
Use the page www.the-numbers.com to find the budgets (Once you have clicked on the link, hit Ctrl + F. A search bar will pop up and you can type in the movie you are looking for and it will find it on the list.) If your budget is not on this site, you may have to search for it on Google.
2) Go to
Start>Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Excel.
3) Row 1 of your spreadsheet should be your column headings. Column Headings are titles and should be capitalized. In cell A1, type Movies. In cell B1, type in Overall Gross. In cell C1, type in Budget. In cell D1, type in type in Profit. In cell E1, type in % of Increase.

5) Fill in the data for your 7 movies in columns B-C. You do not have to type in dollar signs or commas.
6) Column D is going to be where we calculate the Total Profit. Total Profit is Overall Gross-Budget. Excel can complete Mathematical Equations.
Do the following in
cell D2 to enter a mathematical formula like shown on right:
type =
click on the overall gross for movie #1 (in my example $32, 967, 998) it will show box coordinates in formula
type -
click on your budget for movie #1 (in my example $36,000,000) it will show box coordinates in formula
hit Enter. (the answer should appear.
7) Complete columns D by using mathematical formulas.
8) Shade column D
yellow by using the Paint Bucket (shown on right) so your teacher's know that is
your calculated column.
9) Column E is going to be where we calculate the % of Increase Total Profit is Overall Gross-Budget. Excel can complete Mathematical Equations.
Do the following in cell E2 to enter a mathematical formula like shown on right:
type =
(
click on the Profit for movie #1 (in my example $3,032,002) it will show box coordinates in formula- D2
type /
click on your Budget for movie #1 (in my example $36,000,000) it will show box coordinates in formula- C2
type )*100
hit Enter. (the answer should appear.)
10) Complete columns E by using mathematical formulas.
11) Shade column E
yellow by using the Paint Bucket (shown on right) so your teacher's know that is
your calculated column.
12) Highlight Column E> Right Click> Go to Format Cells. Under Category, choose Number and pick 1 decimal places. Hit OK.
