Sports Step #2- Stem and Leaf

Creating Your Stem and Leaf

1)    You are going to have to analyze your numbers in your spreadsheet. Choose 1 column of data to make your stem and leaf over. When making a stem and leaf you want smaller numbers..

2) Once you have selected a column, highlight it, copy it and paste into column D in a new tab. (You can see we copy/pasted Games Played into column B.)

3) In cell A1, type in your title that tells what data you are using. (May need to have season and the year in the title)

4) Make a T Bar using the border button.  Use common sense. You are going to need to think on this one.

5) Fill in numbers from high to low or low to high. Tens and hundreds places go on the left (stem side). Ones goes on the right (leaf side). Use commas to separate your ones places. (You can see we have 2 numbers in the 80s, so we have 2 zeros on the right side separated by commas.)

6)   Type a key to tell what the numbers on the stem and leaf represent.

7) On the tab at the bottom, rename the tab StemLeaf . Right-click on the tab at bottom of page (Sheet 2) and go to rename. Type in StemLeaf.
