Sports Step #3-  Box-n-Whisker

Rubric Requirements:

• Print Screen and Paste into Excel   

• Title with correct capitalization and spelling. (No abbreviations)    

Creating Box and Whisker

2)      Type in virtual manipulative.

3)      Click on National Library of Virtual Manipulatives.

4)      In the picture grid, follow the Data Analysis  & Probability Row over to the 6-8 column. (The box shows the kids elbow. ) Click on it.

5)      Click on Box Plot.

6)      Hit the Clear button.

7)      In Excel, choose one column of data to use in the box plot.

• Choose numbers that are smaller and a whole number.
• You need to use a different statistic/column than last time.
• Right is an example of  how we chose a statistic to use for the box plot. The only whole number wehad left that we hadn't used was Total Points , so that is what we are using.

8)      Type the numbers from the column you selected in Excel into the data column on the website. As you type them in, it will make your box plot.

9)      Once completed, hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. (Above delete) This button copies your screen.      

10) Then, go to back to your Excel document and paste it into a new tab (Sheet 3).

11)      At the top of the screen you should see this tab.  Click on Format and Crop is over to the right. Hit Crop.

12)      Use the black corners to crop your picture so only relevant parts are showing.

14)  On the tab at the bottom, rename the tab Box . Right-click on the tab at bottom of page (Sheet 3) and go to rename. Type in Box.

Now, return to the HomePage and go to the next step.
