Essential Question: How can I contact a company to receive an accurate estimate for services?

NTES Standard:

  1. STEP 1. You are writing a letter about planning a party. Pretend that you are the parent of a hyper six-year old named Tommy. Tommy will be seven in a few months and you would like to plan a special party for him and his friends. Since kids tend to make a mess, you don't want to rent a place (knowing that you might have to spend major bucks to clean it up) so you plan to have the party at your house. 
  2. YOUR PARTY IS FOR 25 PEOPLE and YOUR BUDGET IS $300.
  3. STEP 2.
  4. Visit Party Planning at Giant Party Store!
  1. STEP 3. Go to Excel in your letter that lists the items you would like to order for the party. Visit their party store (http://www.ponypros.makesparties.com/) and devise a list and the prices (taken from their web site). Use the following as a guide for setup:

STEP 4 In paragraph 1,explain which items you want at your party and any ideas you have for setup.

    In paragraph 2,explain that you have a price limit and what you have estimated as a price for materials. 

    In paragraph 3, request that they write you back by a certain date with a quote for their service. Thank him for them for their time.

STEP 5.   Add the return address and business address to create a formal letter. Right align your return address (home address), which is the 1st 3 lines of your paper. Hit Enter 2 times to skip lines 4 and 5. Left align the Giant Party City Address, which is 4 lines instead of 3. You must include the c/o James Johnson line. This part will be lines 6-9. Hit Enter for line 10.

STEP 6.  Add the date on line 11. Click on Insert-Date and Time…Choose the day, month, date, and year.  

STEP7.    Double Space!

  • Highlight your entire paper.
  • Go to FORMAT<PARAGRAPH<look for Line Spacing and change to DOUBLE. HIT OK.

STEP 8.    Add a footer to your page.

  • Click on View-Header and Footer
  • Put your cursor inside of the Footer "dotted box" at the bottom of your page.
  • Type your name and class period.
  • Click Close on the Header and Footer bar.

STEP 9.    Copy and Paste Excel Chart into your letter in Word.

STEP 10.    SPELL CHECK and PROOF READ- Have someone proofread and make corrections.

STEP 11.    Save in your profile folder as “LASTNAMEFIRSTINTIAL”PARTY.

STEP 12.  Print your letter, sign the letter, attach rubric and place in tray.
